How to Find Federal Government Jobs in Nigeria

While we cannot choose to ignore the fact that there are limited job opportunities in Nigeria, this majorly as a result of the federal government of Nigeria to provide enough structure that will accommodate the large chunk of graduates that are being released into the Nigeria labor market, we cannot also ignore the fact that irrespective of this quite unfortunate situation in Nigeria, there are thousands of jobs that are made available by the federal government of Nigerians for the Nigerian youths.

It is the constitutional duty of any government in the world to ensure that there is an increase in Job employment for its people, this does not exempt Nigeria. It has now become a major political feature of our electoral system that politicians now used this factor that is provision of job opportunities as a focal point in their respective campaigns in order to acquire political power.

Recently the Nigeria Federal Government announced its decision to start the special public works program which is aimed at employing 774,000 citizens, which implies a thousand from each local government areas in the country. Thus by implications the Nigerian youth should look forward to the inevitable commencement of this program by making themselves employable.

While the normal  requirement for every job seeker is a proof of having a formal education, the system has become a very competitive one these days, that people now go ahead to acquire additional degrees, some professional degrees to make them fit into certain federal government  firms.

For the average job seeker in Nigeria, there are several requirements needed to secure a job, a certificate from any of the Nigerian tertiary institution, also the National youth service corps certificate, state of origin certificate and the certificate of birth. Also need is a Curriculum Vitae and an application letter. Applicants are also required to provide attestation letters from their referees in some cases. Furthermore there is a need for interviews which is usually conducted by a specified body set up by the recruiting agencies on behalf of the federal government.    There are certain agencies that require a police report from the applicants. There are other documents which are often required for depending on the nature and disposition of the recruiting agencies.

There are diverse advantages that come with the federal government job, one of the most prominent of them is job security. Unlike the private sector which can decide to sack its workers anytime, there is a job security for the federal government workers as they do not need to worry about the thought of being sacked by anyone. As long as they do not violate the code of conduct attached to their working condition, they are safe.

Another added advantage is that the get to receive their salary as at when due, there is no fear of the agency going bankrupt as the federal government is exclusively responsible for the payment of their salary.

Another benefit that comes with working as a federal government staff is that there is a retirement benefit. Upon retirement they get to have certain fee called pension fund from the government.
