Job Description

Responsibilities

  1. To be responsible, in conjunction with other Houseparents, for the care, supervision, cleanliness and presentation of students entrusted in their care.
  2. To be resident within the school at all times during term time (excluding off duty time) and to be responsible for the general welfare and personal development of all the students in their care.
  3. Maintain a professional and nurturing relationship with student, parents/guardians, and staff.
  4. To provide a sympathetic presence and be engaged with the students at all times in the Hostel; liaising closely with other staff concerning the progress and welfare of students.
  5. Supervise students prep along with the duty teachers and other hostel parents.
  6. To be proactive, flexible, efficient and reliable using initiative and a common sense approach while Promoting and maintaining discipline at all times.
  7. To reinforce positive social and behavioural skills, through everyday encounters, the house parent is expected to be approachable, understanding, diplomatic and a good listener.
  8. Complete all necessary reports, forms, and documentation accurately and timely.
  9. Participate in Morning and Night devotions along with the students.

Required Qualifications, Skills And Experience

  1. A First Degree in any discipline.
  2. Minimum 2 years experience working with children in a reputable boarding school.
  3. To have a basic understanding and knowledge of safeguarding children and children’s developmental needs.
  4. Evidence of trainings on Pastoral care, Child Management or Child Psychology will be an added advantage.
  5. Must be proficient in English language.
