Job Description

 

DelonJobs is helping a leading insurance company in Lagos to hire Legal Officer. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and/or advising on all legal matters, commercial contracts, and agreements. The Legal Officer shall also ensure the company complies with the statutory and corporate governance practices and guidelines as observed in the insurance industry.

 Minimum experience 2-3 years Post-Call to Bar.

Job Description:

    Required Competencies Knowledge/Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree(Minimum of 2.2)
  • NYSC Discharge Certificate 

Technical Experience

  • ·        Draft legal documents 
  • ·        File court documents 
  • ·        Conduct research and analysis of legal problems 
  • ·        Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations for individuals andbusinesses 
  • ·        Communicate with their clients and others 
  • ·        Prepare and file legal documents, such as lawsuits, appeals,wills, contracts, and deeds 
  • ·        Present facts in writing and verbally to clients and argue ontheir behalf 
  • ·        Read case law and prepare case briefs 
  • ·        Prepare responses to complaints and discovery requests 
  • ·        Organize case files and maintain records 
  • ·        Keep abreast of current legislation to ensure that the company isacting in accordance with all applicable laws 
  • ·        Examine / Analyse legal implications of transactions between thecompany and its clients and advise appropriately 
  • ·        Maintain safe custody of the company’s statutory and vital documents 
  • ·        Initiate legal action as required to protect the interest of thecompany  
  • ·        Review all court cases for and against the company and identifythe legal remedy for each case 
  • ·        Prepare regular reports / updates for management attention 
  • ·        Monitor litigations and review reports for timely and qualityadvice 
  • ·        Co-ordinate the arrangements for and documentation of Board papersand meetings 
  • ·        Maintain an effective filing system to ensure proper documentationand retrievals 
  • ·        File all minutes (management, investment, Board meetings, annualreports and other documents 
  • ·        Type and circulate minutes of Board and Management meetings 
  • ·        Send out timely notice of Board and Management meetings 
  • ·        Keep custody and use of the company seal
