Job Description
Responsibilities
- Meet clients to determine their picture, mirror and crafts framing requirements.
- Study items that need to be framed, and provide clients with advice on appropriate solutions.
- Provide clients with information on possible framing and restoration timelines and costs.
- Extract pictures from old frames, making sure that they are not torn or damaged, and place them carefully in new ones.
- Remove old finishes by stripping using steel wool and glass paper, and by applying solvents and paint strippers.
- Place pictures in new frames or on mounts, and ensure that they are safely and properly affixed on them.
- Fit and fasten frame pieces and mount backing materials and subjects for framing purposes.
- Set up and operate woodworking and wood stock machines to ensure that proper framing solutions are carried out.
- Place glass on top of framed pictures, ensuring that it is properly affixed, leaving no room for falling out.
- Cut cardboard pieces and ensure that it is properly fit into the frame, to keep pictures steady and safe.
