Job Description

– Develop: a) the Office’s Communication and Advocacy Strategy and the related operational action plan and b) lead its implementation to strengthen adherence to issues relating to UNFPA’s mandate in the field audience focused on UNFPA priorities at global and local levels while enhancing the visibility of the organization in Chad; and explain how the cooperation program delivers results and contributes to the image and programming in line with other UN agencies.

– Provide a critical analysis of the environment to the BP by contributing to the scan of the environment and to internal and external reporting; contribute substantially to the regular production of policy and program updates in Chad within UNFPA; contribute to the editing of the various PB reports, proposals, studies, press releases and speeches and use them as resources for advocacy and resource mobilization purposes.

– Identify and use various media (print, electronic, social media) to improve advocacy efforts on population issues as described in ICPD.

– Develop and maintain close collaboration with mass media through activities such as organizing visits to project sites and reporting on events and progress made; facilitate advocacy events, photo and video coverage, and use both web-based and traditional media, as appropriate, to generate and maintain public interest in issues relating to UNFPA’s mandate and “telling the story” of cooperation between UNFPA, its partners and the external environment in general.

– Manage press clippings internal / external communications and other broadcasts relating to UNFPA and share them within the office and with the regional office and headquarters of UNFPA.

– Develop and use communication tools and media to promote the visibility of UNFPA and the program by favoring the use of innovative information and communication technologies.

– Adapt and disseminate HQ and Regional Office advocacy documents to identified target audiences, organizing translations into local language (s), if necessary. Help identify and coordinate documentation of stories, good practices, lessons learned and other innovative materials to facilitate advocacy activities.
