Job Summary:
We are seeking a talented Residential Chef to prepare high-quality, delicious meals for a reputable family in her private residence. The ideal candidate will have a passion for cooking and creating new recipes, as well as experience in preparing a variety of cuisines. The chef will be responsible for menu planning, grocery shopping, meal preparation, kitchen cleaning, and organization.
Responsibilities:
- Plan weekly menus that are diverse, nutritious, and tailored to the family's preferences and dietary restrictions.
- Shop for groceries and pantry items as needed.
- Prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the family, as well as any guests that may be visiting.
- Create new recipes and experiment with different ingredients to keep meals interesting and flavourful.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, including proper storage and labelling of food items.
- Manage inventory of kitchen supplies, equipment, and ingredients
- Ensure that meals are prepared and served on time and that kitchen and dining areas are cleaned and tidied up afterwards.
- Accommodate special requests, such as preparing meals for events or parties hosted in the residence.
- Communicate regularly with the family to ensure that their preferences and dietary needs are being met.
- Keep up to date with current culinary trends and techniques.
Requirements:
- At least 5 years of experience as a chef, preferably in a residential setting
- Proven experience in preparing a variety of cuisines, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.
- Excellent knowledge of culinary techniques, food handling, and sanitation practices
- Ability to manage a busy kitchen and deliver meals on time.
- Strong organizational and planning skills, with an eye for detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Degree or certification in culinary arts is a plus.
