Job Description

  • The Senior Finance Manager is to lead, plan, design and co-ordinate the implementation of sound accounting and financial management and control systems.
  • Also ensures procedures for all operational areas, facilitate the maintenance of accurate and up to date financial and accounting records for the effective and smooth running of all business operations and decision-making under changing environmental circumstances while overseeing the activities of staff in the assigned department.

Duties / Responsibilities

  • Reviews financial reporting structures, accounting procedures, and investment activities; recommends improvements to procedural, operational, and financial controls;
  • Manage the annual external audit process to ensure it is effectively and efficiently completed for a clean audit report consistent with comprehensive implementation of smooth operating systems within the company’s operations.
  • Develops and improves processes to improve controls and safeguard assets;
  • Oversees preparation of business activity reports, financial forecasts, and quarterly budgets;
  • Responsible for tax planning throughout the fiscal year; files annual corporate tax returns;
  • Prepares accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations; coordinates with outside auditors and provides needed information for the annual external audit;
  • Presents recommendations to management on short and long-term financial objectives and policies;
  • Ensures that monthly financial statements and management information are prepared and submitted in a timely manner to enable Senior Management and the Board to review and guide the company’s operations effectively
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements;
  • Carry out any other duties that may be assigned by the Country Manager in order to ensure smooth financial operations of the company.

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Plan, lead and supervise the activities of the Finance team.
  • Provide on-the-job training and guidance as needed.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Support the Country Manager to provide leadership across the company.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree with coursework in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration required;
  • At least five (5) years of related work experience required;
  • Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) OR Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) certification preferred;
  • Experience in financial, accounting, and project management systems, policies, and procedures;
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills and experience in accounting, financial planning and management, and other management support areas, as required;
  • Excellent computer skills in MS Office, database management, accounting software, etc.
