Role:
Underwriting and claims manager.
Core Duties and Responsibilities:
• Manage the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of business. Aquire more businesses to swell up company’s portfolio.
• Underwrite and skillfully negotiate complex customer accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with internal partners within the business unit and across the enterprise to create sales plans and identify cross-selling opportunities.
• Maintaining, updating and reporting information on the claims database.
• All admin tasks relating to the claims team and process.
• Subscribe business in accordance with corporate guidelines, analyze the information provided by agents or brokers using the tools of subscription and experience in the field to establish the best conditions of assurance caring profitability.
• Negotiate deals with other insurance brokers and /or agents and timely responds and quotation requests and/or inquiries.
• Analyze, monitor, work and handle new business received through brokers and renewal accounts assigned by Manager as well as maintain an updated list of accounts being handled each month.
• Visit insurance producers at regular schedules in order to attract potential prospects.
• Interact with brokers and customers, externally and internally, other line of business underwriters and top management.
• Assist Operations Department in policy issuance on claims, in the event of a claim under one of their accounts in order to interpret underwriting intention, if needed.
• Identify and capture new business opportunities using consultative marketing and sales skills.
• Independently develop and execute agency sales plans and frequently partner with your superriors to develop region/group sales plans.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
A bachelor’s degree in Insurance or any relevant descipline.
Membership with the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) will be considered strongly.
An MBA or any other relevant professional certification in insurance is an added advantage
Work Experience:
Minimum of three years work experience in the insurance Industry.
