Job Overview: As the Fire Suppression Systems Manager at QED International (Oil & Gas) Nigeria Limited, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of fire suppression systems across our facilities. This pivotal role involves ensuring the safety and well-being of our personnel, safeguarding our assets, and maintaining compliance with industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. System Design and Implementation:
    • Collaborate with engineering teams to design effective and efficient fire suppression systems tailored to the unique requirements of our facilities.
    • Oversee the installation and commissioning of fire suppression systems, ensuring they meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  2. Maintenance and Inspections:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for all fire suppression systems.
    • Conduct regular inspections, testing, and audits to verify the functionality and reliability of the systems.
  3. Regulatory Compliance:
    • Stay abreast of local, national, and international regulations pertaining to fire safety and suppression systems in the oil and gas industry.
    • Ensure all fire suppression systems comply with relevant standards and regulations.
  4. Emergency Response Planning:
    • Collaborate with the Emergency Response Team to develop and refine emergency response plans related to fire incidents.
    • Conduct drills and training exercises to enhance the preparedness of personnel in case of fire emergencies.
  5. Risk Assessment:
    • Conduct risk assessments to identify potential fire hazards and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
    • Provide recommendations for improvements to existing systems based on risk assessments.
  6. Budget Management:
    • Develop and manage budgets related to fire suppression systems, ensuring cost-effectiveness and efficient resource allocation.
  7. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all fire suppression systems, inspections, and maintenance activities.
    • Prepare and submit regular reports to management on the status of fire suppression systems.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (minimum of 7 years) in designing, implementing, and managing fire suppression systems, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
