Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a talented and motivated Lawyer to join our esteemed team at Ikwueto. As a Lawyer, you will have the opportunity to work on diverse legal matters, represent clients in court proceedings, draft legal documents, and provide expert legal advice and guidance. You will collaborate with colleagues, engage with clients, and uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct in all aspects of your work.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Legal Representation: Represent clients in legal proceedings, including court hearings, trials, arbitrations, and negotiations. Advocate on behalf of clients' interests, present legal arguments, and defend clients' rights and positions in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and legal precedents.
2. Legal Research and Analysis: Conduct legal research, analyze case law, statutes, and regulations, and prepare legal memoranda, briefs, and opinions on complex legal issues. Provide strategic legal advice and recommendations to clients based on thorough analysis and interpretation of legal principles and precedents.
3. Drafting and Review: Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents, contracts, agreements, and other legal instruments on behalf of clients. Ensure accuracy, clarity, and compliance with legal requirements, contractual obligations, and client objectives.
4. Client Counseling: Provide proactive legal advice, guidance, and counseling to clients on a wide range of legal matters, including business transactions, regulatory compliance, risk management, and dispute resolution strategies. Communicate effectively with clients, understand their needs and concerns, and tailor legal solutions to achieve their goals.
5. Case Management: Manage caseloads, deadlines, and priorities effectively, and ensure timely completion of legal tasks and deliverables. Maintain accurate and organized case files, documentation, and correspondence, and update clients regularly on case developments and progress.
6. Collaboration and Teamwork: Collaborate with colleagues, paralegals, and support staff to deliver comprehensive legal services and achieve optimal outcomes for clients. Work collaboratively on multi-disciplinary teams, share knowledge and expertise, and contribute to a positive and supportive work environment.
7. Ethical Standards: Uphold the highest standards of professional ethics, integrity, and confidentiality in all aspects of legal practice. Adhere to the rules of professional conduct, maintain client confidentiality, and avoid conflicts of interest to preserve the trust and confidence of clients and the legal profession.
8. Continuing Education: Stay abreast of legal developments, changes in laws and regulations, and emerging trends in the legal industry. Participate in continuing legal education (CLE) programs, professional seminars, and industry conferences to enhance knowledge, skills, and expertise in relevant practice areas.

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction(s) is required.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing law, with a focus on litigation, corporate law, or a related practice area.
• Strong litigation skills, including courtroom advocacy, legal research, and writing.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
