Job Description

Human Rights Non-Governmental Organization is hiring Legal Expert in Lagos, Nigeria. The ideal candidate would be responsible for managing the company's legal affairs. By ensuring that the business adheres completely to legal requirements and providing legal expert to management about any pertinent matters, you will protect our brand. Provide executives with accurate and prompt legal advice on a range of matters (labor law, partnerships, foreign ventures, corporate finance, etc.) interested candidates must possess the following qualifications a bachelor’s degree or HND in law, strong dedication to human rights, openness, and accountability; seven years of post-call litigation experience; familiarity with the anticorruption and human rights domains; shown capacity for analytical, strategic, legal, and effective thought. Job Responsibilities

  • Under the direct supervision of an attorney or report to a team of lawyers who provide you with assignments, such as interviewing clients or witnesses, preparing affidavits, and working on amendments to legal documents.
  • Attain signing authority training certificate to sign motions for relief upon filing complex transactions.
  • Prepare and distribute payroll manage daily office operations and equipment and maintain supplies for office to run effectively.
  • Achieve award for increasing efficiency by extensively communicating with debtors' attorneys and monitoring trustee activities daily.
  • Review bankruptcy filing notifications and updating appropriate fields and workstations on MSP and LPS systems.
  • Review bankruptcy filings and claims using various proprietary applications including NDC, AACER, and LPS.
  • As required by the Corporate Legal Advisor, support the negotiation of host country agreements.
  • Give legal counsel about the implementation of UNOPS Financial Rules and Regulations, particularly as they pertain to contracting and procurement, under the direction of the Corporate Legal Advisor.
  • Examine and evaluate a range of procurement-related papers, taking institutional risk into consideration.
  • Offer legal counsel and procurement-related guidance on institutional and business affairs.
  • Offer guidance about the creation and implementation of novel methodologies and standards pertinent to the legal profession.

Job Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Legal Counsel in business environment
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of corporate law and procedures.
  • Full comprehension of the influences of the external environment of a corporation
  • Demonstrated ability to create legal defensive or proactive strategies.
  • High degree of professional ethics and integrity
  • Sound judgement and ability to analyze situations and information.
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • BSc degree in Law or J.D. degree
  • MA or BSc in Business Administration will be considered an advantage.

  • Employers may prefer candidates with certification as a paralegal or legal assistant.
