With a focus on innovation, efficiency, and sustainability, we are committed to responsible resource development and maximizing value for our stakeholders. Our operations encompass exploration, development, and production activities across various oil and gas assets, contributing to the growth and development of Nigeria's energy sector. Join us in our mission to deliver safe, reliable, and environmentally responsible energy solutions that power progress and prosperity.

Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering team at ND Western Limited. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise, support, and leadership in the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of mechanical systems and equipment across our oil and gas facilities. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the integrity, reliability, and efficiency of mechanical assets and processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engineering Design and Analysis: Design, analyze, and evaluate mechanical systems, components, and equipment using engineering principles, codes, and standards. Develop technical specifications, drawings, and calculations for equipment selection, sizing, and layout. Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and project requirements.
  • Equipment Selection and Procurement: Specify, select, and procure mechanical equipment, machinery, and materials for construction, installation, and operation. Evaluate vendor proposals, technical specifications, and bids to ensure quality, performance, and cost-effectiveness. Coordinate with procurement and supply chain teams to manage vendor relationships and ensure timely delivery of equipment.
  • Installation and Commissioning: Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical systems and equipment in accordance with project schedules and specifications. Collaborate with construction, operations, and maintenance teams to ensure proper installation, alignment, and integration of equipment. Conduct pre-commissioning checks and performance tests to verify system functionality and compliance.
  • Maintenance and Reliability: Develop and implement maintenance strategies, programs, and procedures to optimize the reliability, availability, and performance of mechanical assets. Conduct equipment inspections, condition monitoring, and failure analysis to identify maintenance needs and prioritize repairs. Implement predictive and preventive maintenance practices to minimize downtime and maximize equipment lifespan.
  • Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Investigate and resolve mechanical issues, failures, and operational challenges through root cause analysis and troubleshooting techniques. Develop solutions, recommendations, and corrective actions to address performance issues, improve efficiency, and mitigate risks. Provide technical support and guidance to operations and maintenance teams during troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, standards, and best practices in all mechanical engineering activities. Identify and mitigate potential hazards, risks, and environmental impacts associated with mechanical systems and operations. Participate in safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
  • Project Management and Coordination: Manage mechanical engineering projects from inception to completion, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation. Coordinate with internal stakeholders, external contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure project success and regulatory compliance. Monitor project progress, milestones, and deliverables to meet quality, cost, and schedule objectives.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records, documentation, and technical documentation for mechanical systems, equipment, and projects. Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations to communicate project status, findings, and recommendations to management, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field. Master's degree or professional certification is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, practices, and standards.
  • Proficiency in engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with industry codes and standards (e.g., API, ASME, ANSI) applicable to oil and gas facilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Effective communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
