Position Overview: We are currently seeking a talented and motivated Network Optimization Engineer to join our team in ensuring the optimal performance of our network infrastructure. The successful candidate will play a critical role in analyzing, troubleshooting, and optimizing network parameters to enhance quality of service and customer experience. Key Responsibilities:

  1. Network Performance Monitoring:

    • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and network metrics to assess the performance of Airtel Nigeria's wireless and wired network infrastructure.
    • Analyze network performance data, identify areas for improvement, and develop optimization strategies to enhance network efficiency and reliability.
  2. RF Optimization:

    • Conduct radio frequency (RF) optimization activities, including antenna tilt adjustments, frequency planning, and parameter optimization, to improve coverage and capacity of the network.
    • Perform drive tests and site surveys to evaluate signal strength, interference levels, and handover performance, and make recommendations for optimization.
  3. Capacity Planning:

    • Collaborate with network planning teams to forecast capacity requirements and plan for network expansion and upgrades.
    • Analyze traffic patterns and demand forecasts to optimize resource allocation and ensure adequate network capacity to support growing subscriber base and data traffic.
  4. Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution:

    • Investigate network performance issues, service degradations, and customer complaints, and provide timely resolution to ensure uninterrupted service delivery.
    • Utilize network monitoring tools and diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot network faults, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  5. Optimization Tools and Techniques:

    • Utilize network optimization tools and software applications to perform data analysis, generate performance reports, and visualize network performance metrics.
    • Stay abreast of industry best practices, emerging technologies, and trends in network optimization to continuously improve processes and methodologies.
  6. Cross-Functional Collaboration:

    • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including network planning, engineering, operations, and customer support, to coordinate optimization activities and align with business objectives.
    • Participate in network performance review meetings, share insights and recommendations, and contribute to the development of optimization plans and strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in network optimization, RF engineering, or related roles in the telecommunications industry.
  • Proficiency in using network optimization tools and software, such as TEMS, Actix, Atoll, or similar tools.
  • Strong understanding of wireless communication technologies, including GSM, UMTS, LTE, and VoLTE.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and identify optimization opportunities.
  • Solid understanding of network protocols, signaling, and architecture, including TCP/IP, OSI model, and LTE/UMTS network elements.
  • Certification in network optimization or RF engineering (e.g., CCNP Wireless, CWNP, LTE Optimization) is a plus.
