Senior Database Engineer (SDE0126)

DelonJobs is seeking to hire Senior Database Engineer for a leading insurance organization developing next-generation line of business applications for General, Life and Health Insurance. As the Senior Database Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, managing, and optimizing enterprise-grade databases that underpin a multi-tenant, cloud-native insurance platform.  

A central part of your role is ensuring data integrity, availability, and security across PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and MongoDB environments, while supporting robust data pipeline strategies and distributed caching solutions. 

Key Responsibilities :

Database Design & Architecture: 

• Design, implement, and maintain enterprise-grade relational and NoSQL database schemas across PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and MongoDB to support insurance policy, claims, and reinsurance data. 

Data Pipeline Strategy & Development: 

• Architect and deliver end-to-end data pipeline strategies, including ingestion, transformation, and delivery layers, ensuring reliability and scalability across multi-tenant environments. 

Distributed Caching: 

• Implement and manage distributed caching solutions (e.g., Redis, Memcached) to optimize query response times and reduce database load across high-traffic insurance application components. 

Performance Optimization & Tuning: 

• Continuously profile, index, and refine database queries, execution plans, and storage configurations to achieve optimal throughput across large insurance datasets. 

Data Security & Compliance: 

• Enforce RBAC, encryption-at-rest and in-transit, and database auditing mechanisms aligned with NDPR and NIST guidelines to maintain regulatory compliance. 
   

Qualifications :

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. 
• Knowledge of cloud database services (e.g. Azure SQL, Azure Cosmos DB) and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, ARM templates) is beneficial. 

Experience :

• 5+ years of enterprise database engineering experience, designing, managing, and optimizing complex database solutions in production environments. 
• Hands-on proficiency with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and MongoDB, plus working knowledge of distributed caching technologies (e.g. Redis) and scripting languages (Python, Node.js). 

Other Skills & Competencies :

• Ability to design and implement end-to-end data pipeline strategies, including batch and streaming approaches, to serve insurance analytics and operational use cases. 
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment with CI/CD pipelines. 
• Team player with excellent communication skills for on-site collaboration. 
• Familiarity with IFRS 17 data structures or insurance financial systems is a plus. 

Monthly gross salary is between N850,000 - N1,000,000.
