DelonJobs is seeking to hire a Chief Data Officer for a leading fintech company in Nigeria who will develop and sustain the company’s data collection and analytical capability and tools (including establishing processes and overseeing the collection, management, and storage of data across all the business lines within the company). The individual will enhance data driven insights in order to drive personalization of communication, offering and pricing as well as devise data-driven products and solutions to the business challenges and opportunities within the market. Annual gross salary is between 20-30 million NGN. Candidate must possess a master’s degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics with minimum of 7 years experience in data science and analytics or similar role. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Develop, implement and govern the company’s data and information strategy to drive business decisions and growth.
• Develop data procedures and policies to collect, prepare, organize, protect and analyze data assets while ensuring that the company meets industry best practices and regulatory standards.
• Implement data privacy policies in compliance with data protection regulations.
• Drive improvements to the company’s data collection and analytical capability (remove bottlenecks in accessing data, provide ready access to enterprise data, drive organizational learning – engage and educate the businesses on utilizing data to increase efficiencies and competences).
• Establish guidelines for data collection in the product development process across business units and customer segments.
• Apply analytics programs, machine learning, statistical modeling and relevant tools on historical and current data for predictive and prescriptive modelling.
• Support design, build, and maintenance of data and analytical infrastructure and systems. 
• Identify and convert opportunities to create value form data and monetize the company’s data assets Drive innovation (utilize data to drive innovations that differentiate the company within the market).
• Drive development of quality deliverables/reports (i.e. implement reporting outline and frequency agreed with the GMD) to DCEOs, Chiefs and External Stakeholders (e.g. corporate and merchant customers within the company’s network.
• Support engagement with the Board, the GMD, DCEOs and External Stakeholders.
• Support progress meetings / status updates with executive and senior management.
• Develop a data analytics team with data engineers and data scientists.
• Train staff in advanced data analytics capabilities and ensure know-how transfer to the overall organization.
• Lead and provide coaching & development, motivation and support to team members and interdisciplinary teams – i.e. provides honest and timely feedback to team, supports team development, etc.

REQUIREMENTS 

• Relevant certifications (e.g. certified analytics professional – CAP, Cloudera Certified Associate (CCA) Data Analyst, Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE): Data Management and Analytics, etc.).
• Professional knowledge of state-of-the art tools and methodologies.
• Proven leadership skills of a full data team of engineers and scientists.
• At least seven (7) years’ experience in data science and analytics /data management or similar role.
• Primary or secondary experience in technology and/or software development.
