Contract Manager – CMNE241

DelonJobs is seeking to hire a highly skilled and experienced Contract Manager specialized in Civil Engineering within the Oil and Gas sector for a construction company in Lagos, Nigeria. The incumbent will be responsible for managing all aspects of contracts related to civil engineering development projects. This role requires strong negotiation skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of civil engineering principles in the context of oil and gas infrastructure projects. The Contract Manager will work closely with various stakeholders, including project managers, engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors, to ensure that contracts are effectively administered and executed in accordance with project requirements and company policies.

Candidate must have minimum of 5 years of experience in contract management, preferably within the civil engineering sector of the oil and gas industry.

Salary range is N600,000 – N800,000 monthly.

Key Responsibilities:

• Contract Administration: Oversee the entire contract lifecycle, from initial negotiation through contract closeout. Ensure that contracts are compliant with legal and regulatory requirements and company policies.

• Negotiation: Lead negotiations with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to establish favorable contract terms and conditions. Resolve any disputes or discrepancies that may arise during the negotiation process.

• Risk Management: Identify and assess potential risks associated with contracts and develop strategies to mitigate these risks. Monitor contract performance and implement corrective actions as needed to minimize risk exposure.

• Cost Management: Work closely with project managers and finance teams to develop and maintain budgets for civil engineering contracts. Monitor contract costs and expenditures to ensure that projects remain within budgetary constraints.

• Quality Assurance: Ensure that all civil engineering work meets the highest quality standards and complies with applicable industry codes and standards. Conduct regular inspections and audits to verify compliance.

• Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for all contract-related inquiries and issues. Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that project requirements are clearly understood and met.

• Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date contract documentation, including contract files, correspondence, and change orders. Ensure that all contractual obligations are properly documented and executed.

• Performance Evaluation: Evaluate the performance of subcontractors and suppliers against contractual requirements. Provide feedback and guidance to ensure continuous improvement and adherence to contract terms.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in contract management, preferably within the civil engineering sector of the oil and gas industry.

• Proven track record of successfully managing complex contracts for civil engineering projects, including contract negotiation, administration, and risk management.

• In-depth knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, and techniques, with a focus on infrastructure development in the oil and gas sector.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address issues proactively.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.

• Solid understanding of contract law and familiarity with standard contract terms and conditions.

• Proficiency in contract management software and Microsoft Office applications.

• Professional certifications such as Certified Commercial Contracts Manager (CCCM) or Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM) preferred.

• Willingness to travel to project sites and client locations as needed.
