WTS Energy is a leading global provider of staffing, recruitment, and consulting services to the energy sector, specializing in oil and gas exploration, production, and engineering projects. With a network of offices and operations spanning across Africa, the Middle East, Asia, Europe, and the Americas, we connect talented professionals with reputable companies to deliver innovative solutions and drive sustainable growth in the energy industry. Our team of experienced recruiters and consultants is dedicated to delivering value-added services and building long-term partnerships with our clients and candidates.

Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Drilling Engineer to join our team at WTS Energy. As a Drilling Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, designing, and executing drilling operations for oil and gas wells, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with regulatory requirements. You will work closely with drilling teams, operators, and service providers to optimize drilling performance, minimize costs, and maximize production yields.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drilling Program Development: Collaborate with geologists, reservoir engineers, and drilling supervisors to develop drilling programs and well designs for exploration, development, and production wells. Analyze geological data, well logs, and reservoir models to optimize well placement, trajectory, and completion techniques.
  • Technical Analysis: Conduct engineering analyses and simulations to evaluate drilling parameters, casing designs, mud systems, and downhole tools. Perform torque and drag analysis, hydraulics calculations, and casing stress modeling to optimize drilling performance and mitigate risks.
  • Equipment Selection and Procurement: Specify drilling equipment, materials, and services required for well construction and operations. Evaluate bids, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relationships to ensure timely delivery, quality assurance, and cost effectiveness.
  • Drilling Operations Support: Provide technical support and guidance to drilling rig crews, supervisors, and service providers during drilling operations. Monitor drilling parameters, trends, and performance metrics to identify opportunities for optimization and efficiency improvement.
  • Safety and Environmental Compliance: Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations, standards, and best practices in all drilling activities. Conduct risk assessments, hazard analyses, and safety audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Cost Control and Budgeting: Develop drilling cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts for well construction projects. Monitor expenditures, track drilling costs, and identify cost-saving opportunities to optimize project economics and maximize return on investment.
  • Quality Assurance and Quality Control: Implement quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) processes and procedures to maintain standards of excellence in drilling operations. Conduct inspections, audits, and performance evaluations to ensure compliance with technical specifications and industry standards.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records, logs, and documentation of drilling activities, equipment performance, and operational parameters. Prepare technical reports, progress updates, and post-mortem analyses to document lessons learned and best practices for future projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Drilling Engineer or similar role, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in drilling operations and well engineering.
  • Strong technical skills in drilling engineering principles, practices, and technologies.
  • Proficiency in drilling engineering software and tools such as Landmark, WellView, WellPlan, and Drillworks.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices in health, safety, and environmental management.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Flexibility to work in remote locations and offshore environments as required by project assignments.
