Job Description

MTN Nigeria is hiring Signaling Technology Operation Engineer. MTN Nigeria is a member of the MTN Group, which is the top mobile telecommunications firm in Africa. Following the well acclaimed Nigerian GSM auction held earlier in the year by the Nigerian Communications Commission, MTN became the first GSM network to place a call on May 16, 2001. The ideal candidate will be responsible for technical oversight of the signaling and roaming configuration of the Bayobab connection infrastructure.  In accordance with the company's overarching business goals, he will plan, manage, and oversee the technical tasks (configuration, testing, and support) related to signaling peering and international roaming. Job Responsibilities

• Oversee and assist with security (Signaling Firewall) and peering (Diameter, SS7) for MTN Opcos, SCCP carriers, and Roaming Hub.
• Control Global Travel (Technical Coordination).
• Assure the timely implementation of departmental and special projects (such as scheduled expansions, upgrades, migrations, swaps, and new services) with stakeholders.
• Handle signaling, roaming performance, and quality control in accordance with MTN Group standards (operational, capacity monitoring, and general service KPIs).
• Make sure that all customer needs are met with efficient assistance (requests, complaints, incidents, difficulties, change management), and promptly handle any escalated operational concerns.
• Maintaining an updated and consistent roaming and signaling database will help to ensure service availability and prevent service disruptions.
• Stop and take care of any possible income leaks found in the locations where roaming and interconnecting occur.
• Business Continuity Management with the application of Group BCM Redundancy for crucial nodes and linkages.
• Create processes, policies, and procedures: Examine current practices and suggest improvements to improve output and quality. To guarantee a smooth interaction with the departments of customer care, marketing, sales, and finance, develop and maintain efficient procedures.
• Clear audit results reduce risk (internal, external).
• Contribute to the development of departmental OPEX and CAPEX budgets and assist with their implementation.
• Prepare the Department's periodic reports on time.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 Year bachelor’s degree in equivalent specialization MSc, MBA is a plus.
• Can communicate in English 
• GSM, GPRS/UMTS/CDMA Core Network System architecture
• SSS Standard Operation and Maintenance Tasks
• Signaling protocols
• Networking and TCP/IP protocol stack basics
• Data Base administration, programming principles
• Roaming management principles
• Knowledge in Traffic analysis
• Project management (be able to use Microsoft Project)
• Manager track record of 5+ years; with at least 3 years in Telecom industry.
