Job Description

As an Accountant at City Sports Group, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations. The ideal candidate will bring a strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of financial integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Reporting:
    • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to provide insights into the company's financial performance.
    • Ensure timely and accurate reporting in compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  2. General Ledger Management:
    • Maintain the general ledger, including recording journal entries, reconciling accounts, and ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data.
    • Conduct regular reviews to identify and rectify discrepancies.
  3. Budgeting and Forecasting:
    • Collaborate with management to develop and monitor budgets and forecasts.
    • Analyze variances between actual results and budgeted/forecasted figures, providing explanations and recommendations.
  4. Accounts Payable and Receivable:
    • Oversee accounts payable functions, including processing invoices, issuing payments, and maintaining vendor relationships.
    • Manage accounts receivable to ensure timely collection of funds, monitor aging reports, and address outstanding issues.
  5. Financial Analysis:
    • Conduct financial analysis, including profitability analysis, cost-benefit analysis, and financial modeling.
    • Provide insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
  6. Audit and Compliance:
    • Assist in the preparation and coordination of external audits.
    • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal controls.
  7. Taxation:
    • Prepare and file periodic tax returns, ensuring compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations.
    • Stay informed about changes in tax laws and assess their impact on the company's financial practices.
  8. Process Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
    • Implement best practices to streamline financial workflows.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience as an Accountant or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and taxation.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
