Position Overview:

Tharwa Finds is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our finance team. As an Accountant, you will be responsible for managing financial transactions, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulatory requirements. You will play a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records, analyzing financial data, and providing insights to support business decisions. Your expertise in accounting principles, attention to detail, and commitment to financial integrity will contribute to the success and growth of Tharwa Finds.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Transactions: Process and record financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, expense reimbursements, and journal entries, in accordance with established accounting principles and procedures. Verify accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

  2. General Ledger Management: Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts, ensuring proper classification, coding, and reconciliation of transactions. Monitor account balances, analyze variances, and resolve discrepancies to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial records.

  3. Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Generate financial reports, analyses, and forecasts to provide insights into business performance, trends, and opportunities.

  4. Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in budget preparation, monitoring, and variance analysis activities by collecting and analyzing financial data, tracking expenditures, and preparing budget reports. Collaborate with department managers to ensure adherence to budgetary guidelines and identify areas for cost control and optimization.

  5. Tax Compliance: Coordinate and support tax compliance activities, including preparation of tax returns, filings, and payments. Stay abreast of tax regulations, updates, and changes to ensure compliance and minimize tax liabilities for the company.

  6. Audit Support: Assist in internal and external audits by providing documentation, supporting schedules, and responding to auditor inquiries. Ensure compliance with audit requirements, internal controls, and accounting standards.

  7. Cash Management: Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and banking activities to optimize cash resources and manage working capital. Prepare cash forecasts, manage banking relationships, and execute cash transactions as needed.

  8. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and efficiency gains in accounting and finance processes. Recommend enhancements to systems, procedures, and controls to streamline operations and enhance productivity.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or ACCA certification is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, preferably in retail or consumer goods industry.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and financial management systems (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle).
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and interpret results.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and interact with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements.
