Job Overview:

We are currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join our team at 8thGear Partners. As an Accountant, you will play a key role in managing the financial operations of our clients, including bookkeeping, financial reporting, budgeting, and tax compliance. You will work closely with clients to understand their financial needs, analyze financial data, and provide strategic insights and recommendations to support their business objectives. Your expertise in accounting principles, attention to detail, and dedication to accuracy will contribute to the success and growth of our clients and our firm.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, for clients in accordance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. Analyze financial data, trends, and variances to identify opportunities for improvement and inform decision-making.

  2. Bookkeeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records for clients, including general ledger entries, accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and payroll processing. Ensure compliance with accounting principles, internal controls, and client-specific policies and procedures.

  3. Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist clients in developing annual budgets, forecasts, and financial projections to support business planning and decision-making. Monitor budget performance, analyze variances, and provide recommendations for cost control and efficiency improvements.

  4. Tax Compliance: Prepare and file various tax returns, including corporate income tax, VAT, PAYE, and other tax filings, on behalf of clients. Stay abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations, advise clients on tax implications, and assist with tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities.

  5. Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis, ratio analysis, and performance benchmarking to evaluate client financial health, profitability, and liquidity. Interpret financial data, identify trends, and provide insights to clients on financial performance and strategic opportunities.

  6. Client Advisory: Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, providing financial guidance, advice, and recommendations to help them achieve their business goals and objectives. Collaborate with clients to address financial challenges, mitigate risks, and capitalize on opportunities for growth and expansion.

  7. Auditing Support: Assist in the preparation and coordination of financial audits, reviews, and examinations conducted by external auditors or regulatory agencies. Provide documentation, schedules, and explanations as needed to support audit procedures and inquiries.

  8. Software Utilization: Utilize accounting software and financial management tools, such as QuickBooks, Xero, or SAP, to streamline accounting processes, automate repetitive tasks, and improve efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting and analysis.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA qualification or equivalent certification is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or financial management, preferably in a public accounting firm or financial services organization.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and taxation laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and financial management tools, such as QuickBooks, Xero, or SAP.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial data analysis and reporting.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and client relationship management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
