Position Overview:

As a Backend Engineer at Moniepoint Inc., you will be at the forefront of designing, implementing, and maintaining the server-side logic, databases, and APIs that power our digital financial services. Your responsibilities will span the entire backend development lifecycle, from collaborating with cross-functional teams to architecting scalable solutions and ensuring the robustness and security of our systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in backend development, a passion for innovative technologies, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, reliable services.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Backend Development:
   • Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs to support various financial products and services offered by Moniepoint Inc.
   • Collaborate with frontend developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of frontend and backend components.
2. Database Management:
   • Manage and optimize databases to ensure efficient data storage, retrieval, and scalability.
   • Implement data models and structures that align with business requirements and best practices.
3. Scalability and Performance:
   • Architect scalable backend solutions that can handle increasing transaction volumes and user interactions.
   • Conduct performance analysis and optimization to enhance system responsiveness.
4. Security:
   • Implement and maintain security measures to protect backend systems and data.
   • Collaborate with the security team to address potential vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with industry standards.
5. API Development:
   • Develop and maintain RESTful APIs for internal and external consumption.
   • Ensure API documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
6. Collaboration:
   • Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into effective backend solutions.
   • Participate in agile development processes, providing insights and contributing to sprint planning.
7. Continuous Integration and Deployment:
   • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines to streamline the deployment process.
   • Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams to ensure the reliability of production environments.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Backend Engineer or in a similar role.
• Proficiency in backend development languages such as Java, Python, or Node.js.
• Experience with database management systems, including MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.
• Familiarity with RESTful API design and implementation.
• Strong understanding of security principles and best practices.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms, such as AWS or Azure.
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
