Job Overview:

As a Driver at Terre des hommes Foundation (Tdh), you will play a crucial role in facilitating the organization’s operations by providing safe and reliable transportation services. You will be responsible for driving Tdh personnel, materials, and equipment while adhering to safety guidelines and maintaining the vehicles in excellent condition. This role requires a responsible and experienced driver who is committed to upholding the values and mission of Tdh, ensuring the well-being of our team members and contributing to the success of our humanitarian projects.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Safe Transportation:
   • Safely operate Tdh vehicles to transport personnel, materials, and equipment to designated locations.
   • Adhere to all traffic rules, regulations, and safety standards to ensure the well-being of passengers and cargo.
2. Vehicle Maintenance:
   • Conduct regular inspections of assigned vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition.
   • Report any mechanical issues promptly and coordinate with the logistics team for repairs and maintenance.
3. Route Planning:
   • Plan and organize efficient routes to ensure timely and safe transportation of personnel and materials.
   • Stay informed about road conditions, traffic, and alternative routes.
4. Logistics Support:
   • Assist in loading and unloading materials, equipment, and supplies as needed.
   • Provide support to the logistics team in managing inventory and maintaining accurate records.
5. Security Awareness:
   • Maintain a high level of security awareness during travel, especially in challenging or high-risk environments.
   • Collaborate with security personnel to implement safety measures as required.
6. Communication:
   • Maintain open and clear communication with the logistics team, updating them on travel progress and any issues encountered.
   • Report incidents, accidents, or security concerns immediately.
7. Documentation:
   • Ensure all necessary documentation, including driver logs and vehicle records, are accurately maintained and up-to-date.
   • Assist in completing vehicle and trip reports as required.
8. Emergency Response:
   • Be prepared to respond promptly in case of emergencies, providing assistance and following established protocols.

Qualifications and Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience as a professional driver, with a clean driving record.
• Valid driver’s license for the appropriate vehicle categories.
• Familiarity with the local road network and traffic regulations.
• Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
